Nonprofit web design

Nonprofit website design

Nonprofit website design focuses on the three things a nonprofit site has to do well: explain the mission clearly, make donating or volunteering easy, and be usable by everyone in the community it serves. Twist Web Studio builds nonprofit sites with WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility included, which matters more for organizations that receive public funding or serve people with disabilities.

What nonprofit sites need that business sites do not

A nonprofit is asking for time, money, and trust from people who owe it nothing. The site has to earn that quickly.

  • A mission statement a first-time visitor understands in one read
  • A donation path that takes two clicks, not five, and works on a phone
  • Clear ways to volunteer, join, or get services, not buried in a PDF
  • Programs and eligibility written in plain language
  • Board, staff, and financial transparency where funders expect it
  • Events and announcements you can update yourself

Accessibility is not optional for most nonprofits

Organizations that receive federal funding, serve the public, or work with people with disabilities are held to a higher standard, and under ADA Title II rules many public entities and their partners now have firm compliance dates. More importantly, an inaccessible site turns away the exact people a lot of nonprofits exist to serve. We design to WCAG 2.2 AA from the first sketch.

Built for small teams

Most of our nonprofit clients have no web person. We set the site up so a program director can post an event or update a page without breaking the layout, and we write down how to do it.

We know this community

We have built sites for the Deaf Action Center, the Texas Deaf Chamber of Commerce, Rainbow Alliance of the Deaf, and the Austin Deaf Club. Community organizations are not a side line for us.
